I've also downloaded and installed the Base Camp software for the Mac from Garmin, although I've not had the time to experiment with it. Ultimately, I want to be able to print topo maps with my various pieces of data collected on the unit.

I've a passing knowledge of ArcView from the Windows world, but that's way too sophisticated for what I want to do. And I'd prefer to have native Mac software rather than run a program using Parallels Desktop. More Less.

I have a dual G5 2. But Garmin software is the only reason I need to run windows, and I don;t think that is a good enough reason, to go out and buy a new notebook. Purchasing Windows AND Parallels is quite an investment if all you would be doing is running occasional firmware updates. I've got four Macs on my desk right now, but only one is Intel based.
